I received my very own personal sampler designed by Stephanie at http://www.nouveauencore.com/ for Christmas (2008), and have finally gotten everything together to get started on it. I ordered 35 skeins of Vicki Clayton silk (winterberry 1431) and my fabric is in.

Here’s the latest Flower Power picture. I’ve finished one of the columbine flowers, and most of the columbine leaves. Thank God!!!

I’ve been stitching like a mad women on Flower Power now that the Christmas holidays are over. I’m happy to say that what felt like a million leaves, even if it was only 15, are now complete. YEAH!!! I am now working on one of the columbine flowers and it is stitching up much faster than the boring green leaves. I know that it is a flower patch and you have to have leaves to have flowers, but the flowers are just so much more fun to stitch.
Well here’s the latest picture of Flower Power

Well, I’ve picked up Flower Power and ready to go again. Currently I’m stuck in a pile of Columbine leaves. I think that I only have 8 more to go and then I get to stitch another pretty columbine flower…yeah. I feel like I’m hanging out in a field of leaves.

Well not much to show for Flower Power this week. Not even enough to post a new picture. I took a break from Flower Power this week and worked on my Mirabilia, Lady of the Mist

Well things have been very crazy around here. I’m not really sure what week I’m on now, but I’m going to go with Week 10. We evacuated August 30th – September 3rd for Hurricane Gustov. Which missed us and hit somewhere around Morgan City in Louisiana. Then we turned around and evacuated September 11th – September 18th for Hurricane Ike which nailed us. My house/property received minor damages. For example the trampoline flew away, the swing set was picked up and slammed back into the ground and busted our roof looks a little funny, but we were very blessed! The storm surge stopped just about 2ft from my house. The city to the south of my house has about 3,000ish houses and only 14 were not flooded. The college where I work took on anywhere from 3 1/2 ft of water to 3 inches of water in 7 of 8 of our buildings. My mother-in-laws house had about 2 1/2 – 3 feet of water in it.
We are just now going back to work today normal hours, and our classes are not starting back up until October 6th. Things are a little crazy around here.
During this time I manages to do some work on Flower Power, just not as much as I had hoped. So here’s my progress

I’ve been stitching like a mad women, with the start of the Fall semester coming up I won’t have much time for stitching. Taking a class will eat up most of my stitching time. So here’s Flower Power with all the coneflower’s, a hummingbird, and a butterfly complete.

I finally finished the 4th flower and I’m working on finishing up all the leaves and stems. I’m trying to decide if I want to do a hummingbird next or start working on the next patch of flowers. I’ve just about talked myself into the hummers. I can’t wait to see what one looks like with the kreinik floss!

Well this week hasn’t been very productive. I was all excited at the beginning of the week and completed the 4th flower only to discover when I started adding some of the leaves and stems that I miscounted and placed the flower in the wrong spot.
So I had to frog out the whole 4th flower back stitching and all and start over. So disappointing. Now I’m slightly mad at the flower and it’s taking me a little longer to complete it. Hopefully I can finish it up this week and get to the rest of the stems and leaves!

Moving right along. New for this week is a pretty butterfly, which was stitched over one and another white coneflower. One more coneflower left and I can move on to the next set of flowers.
Gwen ordered her fabric and pattern this week, and this past weekend we went and picked up her thread. YEAH. I won’t have to stitch on this monster alone!!!!

I’ve been stitching like a maniac trying to get as much done as possible before the Fall semester starts. I completed the 3rd flower this week and a couple of leaves. I can’t wait until Gwen and get her stuff in and start stitching with me! I’ve enabled her and she finally caved.

I’ve been working very hard this weekend to complete a couple of flowers so I can show the ladies where I work what they look like. They have expressed an interest in stitching this design, and I’m doing my best to enable them!

Well I now have everything I need for Flower Power except 1 skein of thread (DMC 319) and of course it is used in the first flower! I have my hand dyed, very pretty fabric from Crossed Wing Collection.
I’m going to have to visit Gwen’s House O’Everthing to see if I can find some until I can make a trip to the craft store (oh how horrible). I placed my first stitch last night…talk about intimidating!!!! I used a trick off of the 123 message board. I made a piece of paper into the correct dimensions and then placed my fabric over the paper and found my corners.
